Every host on this site carries a tag

The overnight show on this station is presented by a synthetic voice. The site says so, plainly, on the host card and again on the profile page.

That part is not unusual any more. What is unusual is the other part: every host here carries a tag, including the ones who are people.

Why label the humans too

A label on one host out of four reads as a disclaimer about that host. It looks like a warning, and it invites the reader to wonder what is wrong.

A label on all four reads as a fact about how the station is staffed. It is information rather than an apology, and it is the same information either way.

The difference costs nothing to implement and changes entirely how the page lands. Disclosure that has to be hunted for is not really disclosure, and disclosure that looks like an admission trains people to skim past it.

The portrait problem

There is a second decision underneath this one. The overnight host has no photograph, because there is no person to photograph — the picture is a mark, and the profile says as much.

A station could generate a face. Plenty do. But a generated portrait next to a disclosure tag closes one gap while quietly opening another, and a listener who later works that out has learned something about the station that the station did not intend to teach them.
